Hard work pays off

I got into work on Monday and my boss walked up to my desk first thing and announced that I would be getting a .50 cent raise effective immediately. I have to say this is the best way to start off your Monday.

The numbers

I am sure some people think a .50 cent raise is nothing to get too excited about but I am thrilled. It comes out to be about $20 more a week. That’s an extra $80 a month in my pocket!

What to do?

I started a list about what I could do with the increase to my income. While I was taking a look at my budget I remembered that in July I had received a $1 raise. I did not change my budget for this increase. I did this on purpose so I could put the extra to paying off my debt faster. I would have loved to add some more money to my budget but becoming debt free is my main goal.

Pay it down!

I decided that with this raise I would do the same thing and just put the extra income toward paying down my debt. I am so happy that I got this raise and I am very proud of myself that I am now managing my money.

What would you do if you had an increase to your income?
