I am a Smarty Pig!

This now makes 3 savings accounts for me. There is one that is linked with my checking account, the other is at a separate bank and now a Smarty Pig account.
Separate is best
I have learned that keeping things separate works the best for me. The savings that is linked to my checking doesn’t have a big balance. The way it is set up is when I use my debit card for a purchase $1 is transferred to my savings account from my checking account. Which is okay but I just always have to remember that when I pay $25 for gas it’s really $26.
I can’t see you
The other savings account is my emergency fund. I have it with a separate bank from my checking account. I did this because I check my checking account everyday online and while doing that I could see the balance for the savings. I would then make deals with myself that I could take $100 today to get whatever I thought I needed and then pay it back from my next paycheck. Problem was I wouldn’t pay back the account. I have an auto transfer to the savings account set up for twice a month. I only check that account once a month just to make sure everything is correct.
Just for me
I am very hands off when it comes to my saving account now. I get a knot in my stomach when something comes up and I might have to get in my emergency fund. I decided to start the Smarty Pig account so I could same some money for the things I need that are not an emergency. One example is with the weight loss I have gone down 8 clothing sizes. Which I am so thrilled about but I have nothing that really fits anymore. I have some really amazing friends that have given some pieces that fit me now but I really need to buy some new clothes. This will be the way for me to save up for those new clothes.
